Support Local Radio Reading

Please help give your blind and print-handicapped neighbors a chance to read. Make a much-needed contribution to The Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service! Listeners throughout Western New York and Southern Ontario's Niagara Peninsula depend on local radio reading everyday for news, entertainment, and vital information. Now, their NFFRS depends on you.

The Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service does not require a subscription. No one is forced to pay for access to radio reading programming. Some listeners are unable to contribute their "voluntary subscriber fee," making donations from supporters so very important.

A Silver Anniversary Message:

In 1987, the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service began Giving the Blind a Chance to Read. Since then, the NFRRS has broadcast more than 200,000 Hours of Radio Readings to our neighbors without sight, who are provided "reading radios." Now, Radio Reading is in its Silver Anniversary Year of service to the blind. Even more exciting this year is the long-overdue prospect of finally replacing our "Silver Anniversary-old" unreliable audiotape recording with a digital studio system (as is already used by virtually all radio stations and other radio reading services). The Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service can mark our Silver Anniversary with a new recording system on which our listeners can rely-- with your help. We can all be proud of our "tiny agency". Radio Reading has become a lifeline and trusted friend to area print-handicapped persons, "opening their eyes" to the printed matter that most of us take for granted. Volunteer Radio Readers broadcast daily readings of newspapers, magazines and books to visually-impaired listeners with "reading radios". At this special moment, we must raise the special funds needed to reach beyond our Silver Anniversary and create a reliable studio recording system for NFRRS listeners. Now, would you please make a special Silver Anniversary contribution to the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service? Please give as much as you can. Every $50 raised sponsors a radio reading listener-- every $125 raised purchases a "reading radio" for someone without sight-- {and I must tell you this three times during the writing of this letter, one of our reel-to-reel tape decks broke down, requiring stop-gap repairs(!) we must find the funds to stay on-the-air and convert our studios!. We can stay on-air and convert our studios with your donation. Frankly, this is the most important fundraising mailing in Radio Reading's history. Our Silver Anniversary is an truly extraordinary situation. Please consider responding in an extraordinary way. As is our tradition, we send this mailing to you as cheaply as possible, with volunteer efforts, no "fancy" materials and only our 2012 NFRRS calendar (a donated thank-you gift for you). Every cent possible goes to our-- and your-- giving the blind a chance to read. Whenever you look at your calendar, remember that your Silver Anniversary donation to the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service is so needed-- and so appreciated. Thank you for caring. Should you have any questions, please call me at 821-5555.
